COVID-19 At-Home OTC tests are NOT covered for employment purposes. APWU Health Plan members will be required to sign and attest that the purchase of the OTC is not for employment purposes.
APWU Health Plan coverage for over-the-counter COVID-19 tests purchased through local retail pharmacies or Express Scripts home delivery includes:
- $0 copay per each over-the-counter test
- Up to 4 tests per member per 30-day period
- 100% reimbursement for in-network claims
- Maximum of $12/test for out-of-network claims
What do members need to do?
To ensure you pay $0 copay for at-home OTC COVID-19 tests, you simply need to:
- Take your Express Scripts ID card to a retail pharmacy in your network.
- Bring an at-home COVID-19 test to the pharmacy counter, not the regular checkout lane.
- Check out at the pharmacy counter and show your Express Scripts ID card. Your at-home COVID-19 tests should automatically ring up at no cost to you.
For at-home tests you purchased, the fastest and easiest way is to log in to Express Scripts to electronically submit your claims for reimbursement.
Any claim that is not purchased at an in-network pharmacy counter will be reimbursed at $12 per test or at cost if the price is lower.
For questions, call Express Scripts at 1-800-841-2734 or 1-800-759-1089 (TTY line for hearing impaired) or visit the Express Scripts COVID-19 Resource Center.
No action is required. All claims received and postmarked before 1/28 will be processed and reimbursed by APWU Health Plan headquarters. Claims postmarked after 1/28 will be forwarded to Express Scripts for processing.
Members are eligible for up to four at-home over-the-counter COVID-19 tests every 30 days for each covered family member. Please note that pharmacy purchase limits on at-home COVID-19 test kits may apply.
Claims for at-home OTC COVID-19 tests will automatically process at $0 copay when members order through the Express Scripts Pharmacy or check out at in-network retail pharmacy counters. Log in to your Express Scripts portal to find an in-network pharmacy.
